The
Gambia is famous for its bird diversity – over 600 species are officially listed as native or wintering guests, plus many long-distance migrants who stop here on their long journey. Not surprisingly, the country has made a name for itself among birdwatchers for years.
But there are also many other animals to discover, from the ubiquitous reptiles or tree squirrels to the rare antelopes that find shelter in nature parks.
The flora of the Gambia is also diverse, the vegetation zones range from coastal forests to extensive mangrove areas and bush savannahs to dry steppes in the hinterland. Bizarre looking baobabs, giant kapok trees, different palms and lush green mango trees are found almost everywhere, whereas mahogany trees with their huge crowns are found almost exclusively on the north bank of the Gambia River.

Birdwatching at Lamin Lodge
Starting early in the morning – I will pick you up at 5:30/6:00 – you will have the opportunity to observe many different birds and other animals of the mangroves and their peripheral areas.

Compared to the tour described above, you can sleep a little longer on this excursion, the pick-up takes place by appointment in the morning.

This tour can be arranged to your liking – a special experience is the trip to the largest southern tributary of the Gambia River in any case.

Abuko Nature Reserve

Bijilo Forest Park (Monkey Park)
Why this park is commonly known as “Monkey Park” you will see soon, it is home to green monkeys and colobus monkeys. But there is also a rich birdlife and varied vegetation to discover.

Fishing adventure
Fishing in the Gambia – the offers range from “relaxed” in the mangroves to deep-sea fishing. Please contact me for more details!

If you don't mind getting up early or taking a long walk through the forest, this tour will reward you with the unique nature of a pristine forest and its often rare inhabitants, as well as a boat tour through the mangroves.
